Physical Appearance: This letter is a photocopy of a copy of the original, dated April 29, 1862, from Lee to Brig. Gen. J. R. Anderson. Lee is responding to Anderson's note of the previous day and dismisses spy / scout reports of enemy numbers, stating: "I attach no credit to the Scotch man's account of the enemy's forces." He repeats his suggestion for a battery on the Rappahannock.
