Physical Appearance: The letter (autographed, signed) is from Stuart to Brig. Gen. Robert H. Chilton, dated May 8, 1863. Stuart's letter is a follow-up to the report of May 6th and review of cavalry's performance. His critique is that the Confederate cavalry was divided and subdivided; thus, Stoneman's breach of the defenses was invevitable.
