Physical Appearance: December 5, 1862 - Elisha Frank Paxton at Head Quarters Paxton's Brigade, Camp near Guinea's Depot, [Spotsylvania County, Virginia], to Capt. Alexander Swift Pendleton, Assistant Adjutant General, 2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia - Reports the names of gunsmiths and machinists are in his brigade: 2nd Virginia Infantry - Privates Joseph Thompson and William M. Well, both machinists; 4th Virginia Infantry - Privates Royal F. Shepherd, gunsmith, and R. S. Dudley, machinist; 27th Virginia Infantry - Privates George W. Rodgers, detached & at work in Charlottesville and Leander Green, machinist,; and Carpenter's Battery - Private Joseph Keyser, gunsmith. Notes that the 5th and 33rd Virginia Infantries report neither gunsmiths nor machinists in those regiments. Signed, "E. F. Paxton" Brigadier General. 1 page.
