General Robert E. Lee to President Jefferson Davis, May 3, 1863
a. A photostat print of the original lettter, dated May 3, 1863 and signed by Robert E. Lee. Lee describes to President Davis the successful flank attack at the Battle of Chancellorsville led by Gen. Jackson the day before. Lee also informs Davis of the wounding of Generals Jackson and A. P. Hill, as well as the death of Brig. Gen. Elisha F. Paxton.
b. An article from the "Confederate Veteran" concerning the letter, dated February 1913, according to the donor letter. Written by George Wise, whose father knew Lee. The article includes a small image of the original letter, as well as a transcript.
